Am I crazy for protecting my baby’s routine LIKE A HAWK? I feel like a freak when I have to say, no I can’t make that, that’s my little bubs nap time. Sorry. Is it that weird?
I have an awesome circle of mommy friends. I love how we all recognize how individual our children are and appreciate that parenting each one is tailored to their unique needs. Take my son, for instance. If he misses his nap or becomes overtired, I swear to you, its the END OF THE WORLD. My friend P’s little girl is much more adaptable. She can sleep in her car seat out at a coffee shop. Not so with my ducky. The great thing about P and all my mommy friends for that matter is that I never hear, ‘Oh, you should do this, my little one did this and then I did that, blah blah blah.’ Sure, we compare notes. But I never feel the evil eye of mommy judgment from them.
Unfortunately most other people feel the need to put their two cents in. What I want to know is, what makes you think what worked for your baby will work for mine? There is no rule book. God, I wish there was! My life as a mommy would be so much easier. Right now I am flying by the seat of my pants!! So I smile and nod and I even try a thing or two. But the best advice about being a mommy I have ever heard is this: You know your child the best.
And that is why I am stuck at home this beautiful morning while my little child naps. I know my dude.
Phew! The world wont end today
